Look Hot Fast with Jeff...Wardrobe Challenge Tips!
“Most of us live by the 80/20 rule that unfortunately only 20% of clothes and accessories in our wardrobe are used for everyday. This is typically because many of us make impulsive choices when we shop, or hold onto things that no longer fit us, require tailoring or are out of fashion.
I subscribe to the 20/80 rule; that is wear 80% of your wardrobe for everyday and invest in the other 20% for special occasions”.
Wardrobe Staples
Wardrobe staples are the backbone to your individual style. Many people hoard, hoping that a piece of clothing which holds great memories will come back into fashion one day.
To keep it interesting, cleanse your wardrobe of the things that may distract you, no longer fit, are out of style, or no longer age appropriate. Be ruthless. Invite girlfriends over for moral support. Invest in getting those special pieces repaired or tailored.
The simple rule is clothes that are unlikely to be worn again should be donated to charity. For those key pieces that are hard to let go of, consider selling them on eBay.
Refer to Karen Koedding’s (A Little Elf) great tips on how to get started at the HSW website! Then you will have the room and the motivation to start inserting back in the five major basics.
For women these comprise the LBD, a quality suit, pants, jeans and smart shirts or blouses preferably in white, if it suits you. The minor basics include hot pumps, a Blazer in navy or black, and shoes, GREAT shoes and lots of them.
For men the major basics include dark and washed demin jeans, tailored casual pants, suits, shirts and jackets. Accessory or minor basics range from shoes, belts, quality socks and underwear, a Rock ‘N Roll or Fashion t-shirt and swimwear that sits above the knee.
Accessories
Party outfits shine with the right combination of accessories. Footwear is top of the list and you should start at your feet and build up from there, as people typically notice your footwear first. Clean, well fitting shoes that ooze your personality may be the only piece to set you apart, particularly on a first date. This applies to both men and women alike.
Dial up your outfit with the latest accessory pieces. Chunky resin bangles and 70’s style rings are hot right now. Fedoras and trilby hats are funky headwear for summer. Light weight silk blend scarves add a layer to your look and hide all sins!
